Нажмите, чтобы прочитатьNapoleon Order of War, one of the most thoroughly overhauled mods of Napoleon Total War brings you the ultimate in campaign AI, battle AI, historical accuracy and a realistic and tactical form of gameplay never seen before. Started and planned 3 months before NTW's release, Napoleon Order of War was my first modding project ever. I was fresh, full of ideas and ambitions that not even the Creative Assembly can achieve, and to this day, Napoleon Order of War has been my biggest success and one of the most successful mods for NTW.
The AI
Both the campaign and the battle AI have been my greatest achievements in Napoleon Order of War. With thorough testing over the last several versions, the AI has been almost perfected to what the modding limits are.
For the battle AI (BAI):
-The AI knows to flank and enemy and to pin its front
-The AI will now have a small chance of going into melee combat
-The AI should stay in formation, not getting confused and forming unshaped blobs of units.
-Cavalry will no longer make stupid front on charges
For the campaign AI (CAI):
-AI is more likely to use full stacks
-Allies will help each other out more
-Nations focus is more on its land armies, not its navies
-The AI values their alliances more
-The AI prepares for war better, with building up reserve armies
-Less raids, more settlement attacks
-AI to build up its economy before it goes to war
-No more stupid suicide attacks
-Plenty more small changes for the better
-The CAI will be quite for the first 20 turns or so, to prepare for war.
The Uniforms
Uniforms were at its peak during the Napoleonic ages, as they started to cross from parade to more of a utility. So I believe uniforms should be relevant and perfected in a Napoleonic game.
-90% of uniforms changed to the 1805 standard campaign dress. (Massive task, changed most hats and jackets, many hours of work) E.g.: Swedish wear a top hat instead of Kiwer helmet.
-Greatcoats added to units of France and Prussia
-French faction completely retextured. Uniforms look much more authentic and realistic.
-Mud and dust visible on clothing and boots
-French Artillery where correct grenadiers shako
-Russians where 1805 standard shako
-Prussians now wear pre-1808 reforms bicorns
-Austrians wear crested helmets from pre-1806 reforms
-British wear stovepipe shako, not the 1812 Belgic shako.
-French Old Guards have no cap on their bearskin helmet and have silver tassels.
-French Grenadiers wear correct shako with proper tassels.
-Napoleon's unit is Garde Chasseurs a Cheval.
UI, in-game Textures and Other Visuals
The visuals of NOW have been greatly appreciated since day one, as one of the great additions to the mod. Most of our visuals are from contributions from the community, so a big thank you to all those who contributed to NOW.
-All flags redone to 1805 standards
-Smoke effects increased, looks great, not a FPS killer and makes battles more tactical with visibility being very low.
-Grass changed to look more realistic with flowers and what not.
-Cannon barrels have gunpowder marks on their tips.
-Blood added when troops are hit
-Battle and Campaign HUD changes, more of a Napoleonic look
-Main Menu Title changed to 'Napoleon Order of War'
-Many small menu UI changes
-Event pictures changed to historical pictures
The Unit Statistics and Gameplay
NOW is a historical mod, trying to make the best gameplay and realistic mod possible, so that's why I payed special attention to the gameplay stats.
-Musket lethality levels decreased. The chances of killing an enemy soldier are roughly 1 in 30.
-Cavalry is weak, unless they attack on the flank or in the rear, then they are deadly.
-Artillery power increased, but less accurate. Artillery became a major battle decider by 1805, but accuracy was not guaranteed by the smoothbore barrels.
-British infantry have high moral, but not the best fighters. But excellent cavalry
-The French have better accuracy, more efficient, but not any particularly good feature, they are all rounders. Great cavalry and outstanding artillery
-The Prussians, well trained and disciplined, but fatigue and moral are their weakness. Strong infantry but weak cavalry and artillery
-The Russians, similar to the French infantry, but prefer the bayonet, and have low accuracy. They have strong artillery and cavalry.
-The Austrians, not as well trained, high moral but not battle worn and break easier than other nations and badly lead. Average artillery, but great foreign troops that can match any nation.
-Moral is evenly balanced amongst nations, troops routing at about 40-50% losses.
-All stakes and grenades removed, they were never used in the Napoleonic Wars.
-Line Infantry increased to 240 men, Light Infantry to 180 and Skirmishes to 140. Artillery has been increased to 40 men a unit.
-Grenadiers and Elites always start a battle in column formation
-Units fire by line of sight. That's usually the first 2 ranks, but if a soldier gets a clear line of fire on the enemy, he will shoot.
-Units march about 20% slower
-All units can be put on guard mode.
-Moral overhaul with many small changes like the values of certain events happening on the battlefield. If the general dies it will hit hard at the start and as the battle does on it will not matter as much! And causalities have a curve effect. If a unit is taking a lot of causalities but feel they are winning, it will decrease their moral but they start to gain moral slowly as the battle goes on despite taking all the losses, unless they take really heavy casualties.
-Unit stats changed to deep research from real training documents and reports. The statistics are very historically orientated.
Maps and Units
Napoleon Order of War includes many new features like new units, maps and other unique features.
-New units for Prussia, Austria and Britain. France will have more units in a patch very soon. Russia units planned for future releases.
-20+ Unlocked and new maps for custom battles and multiplayer with other NOW users.
-2 new maps made for NOW v1.2 (French Farmland and Fields of Marengo)
Naval Overhaul
A naval overhaul made by 'Sharp' was offered to be included into NOW. It changes naval battles to a gripping new way of gameplay, making naval battles extremely tactical and historically accurate down to every last cannon. The following is the change log of his naval contribution.
Ships
New ships added: - Old bomb ketch - 50-gun Ship-of-the-Line with Carronades; - 74-gun Ship-of-the-Line with Carronades. Ship of the line with carronades has more durability and short range firepower but less long range firepower. Added ships for fractions: - Russia - 122, 106, rocket ships; - Portugal, - steam 38; - France - 64, 50; - Ottomans - 122, 96, 84, 74; - Dutch - 80, steam 38, rocket ship; - Sweden, Denmark - steam 80, steam 38, rocket ship.
Speed and Wind Effects
- Ships can't sail directly against the wind but have to sail tacks - Ships are not sailing directly against the wind (accept steamships and galleys):
Firing and Range
Other Stat Changes
Established the limits for each type of ship in multilayer game: - ironclad: 1 units; -steam ships 80: 3 units; -first rates: 3 units; -carronade ships: 4 units; -rockets ship & bomb ketch: 2 units.
Changed the icons of naval units: (For easy searching and management) -White - Small ships (Sloop, Brig...); -Black - Specific ships (steamships, Ketch, carronades ships); -Red - Battleships 4-3 rate; -Green - Battleships 2-1 rate; -Yellow - Merchant ships.
Deployment zones are placed differently: -distance between opponents is 500 meters (like in ETW); -deployment zones of allied forces have common space of 300 meters; -attacker's deployment zone placed 300 meters above downwind. Changes in the gun: -32, 36, 42 lb. cannons(clicking "grape-shot" cause firing 2 round shot with range 100m.); -only 32 lb. carronade cannons(clicking "grape-shot" cause firing bombs with range 100m.); -24 lb. bomb (clicking "round shot" cause firing bombs with range 150m.); -6, 9, 12, 18 lb. cannons and 24, 32 lb. carronade cannons can use chain-shot, other cannons cannot; -bug that allowed to kill the guns with chain-shots is fixed.
Visuals
- 22 new skins (damage panels of ships) for each faction -each faction has its own ship skins. -ironclad coloured in realistic way -naval flags of all major factions are changed to historical ones -visualization of ship's damage is altered -added effect of blood
Other Modifications to Napoleon Order of War
-Cavalry charge bonus slightly lowered
-Only the better, more elite units are shock resistant
-The canister shot size depends on the pounder size. So a 12lber will have more canister shot pellets than a 6lber
-New musket and cannon sounds added. The sounds are recorded from real muskets and cannons.
-All projectiles (muskets, cannons, etc...) are range affected, meaning they decrease in lethality the further their projectile travels.
- All bugle and drum sounds changes to historically accurate drum and bugle calls.
For Future Releases...
-Extra units for French and Russians.
-A startpos added with lots of campaign changes, and possibly an 1812 campaign.
-More nations playable in the Campaigns of the Coalition
